Ontario College Teachers Collective Agreement

A collective agreement is a written contract between an employer and a union that describes many of the conditions of employment of workers in a collective agreement unit. There are two collective agreements that cover members of Algonquin College`s collective agreement unit. The academic collective agreement includes professors, trainers, part-time staff, counselors and librarians. The support staff collective agreement includes all full-time support staff, Appendix D and Schedule G. OpsEU members regularly receives requests from members covered by collective agreements across the province to obtain copies of their central contract. The following six links provide easy access and allow you to download a copy of your collective agreement in Adobe format. Partial load faculties are assessed in terms of training and experience to determine their starting salary. The job classification plans at the end of the collective agreement define the factors for assessing your qualifications and calculating your first placement. Colleges are required to allow UNION residents to take the first step for partial load staff so that your local resident can check your internship with you. If you have any doubts, please contact us by notice.

In the case of extended health care, the college is required to pay 100% of premiums for all employees, except those with coverage with a spouse. The plan is voluntary only for this group. Our advice is that anyone who enters this group answers the „NO“ question „Is your spouse a judge?“ should opt for extended health care. There is a provision called benefit co-ordination, and the only spouses who would have a plan that would erase the value of two benefit coordination plans are judges. A definition of performance coordination can be included in the „Your Benefits“ brochure mentioned above. The performance manager of each college is required to meet with you during your recruitment to check your performance options. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Because significant deadlines need to be met, you may need to contact your benefit manager as soon as you are hired to ensure that you receive the appropriate forms and that you are registered for the benefits that are best for you.

If you have any questions about the collective agreement and are a member of fanshawe College, please contact us. Note: We are currently working to clarify this information to take into account principles such as the new contract (2017-2021) and their practical operation. Here is a summary of the benefits for the partial burden (from the collective agreements Articles 26.10D and E): changes in the higher education system, such as the drastic increase in class size and increasing reliance on partial load faculties, have however led to the creation of a large underpaid and overburdened segment of the partial load faculty , whose workload is limited only by the maximum teaching time of 12 hours per week. , unlike full-time faculties, whose workload is limited by many other factors, such as class size, teaching contact periods, and the number of course preparations and sections.
